1.
What do you need to live? What will make you content? Necessities met Love to give Someone to share your happiness with My body aches Got plenty of sleep Yet can’t stay awake Self Destruction My normal routine Bottle in hand Knives through veins There’s a battle in my head It’s me versus the meds It’s just a drug yea It’s just a drug yea So leave the chemicals behind us Our sickness is marketed to us Pull the plug yea Just pull the plug yea Up the dosage Up the usage The highs The lows So fucking used to it A roller coater ride That’s never ending I’m at the peak And then I’m descending
2.
This is for no one but me It’s not for sale It’s to set me free Because I need something so desperately Take away the pain momentarily Now I’m too tired to think or speak Might as well be dead Is there any life left? Come on come on come on And let’s go Legs start walking Eyes pried open Is my heart pounding I’ve learned to be alone It’s fine with me I prefer it now Than being with company This might some sort of disease It affects my well being Do you see? I hope it doesn’t end my life too early
3.
Disconnect 05:08
I’m not connected to anything Not the sky, the earth, or the moon I’m not connected to anything Someone Please anyone Feel me tonight And help me burry this gloom So won’t you fall Down down down With me tonight And drink yourself sober Through your lonely headlights She’s too proud proud proud for your broken heart So scream loud loud loud through your slurring mouth
4.
Being away from you No idea what to do Inside I don’t feel right I’m not nauseous It’s because You’re no where in sight I’m sliding through this morgue Having missed an opportunity I could’ve been drugged by your sound waves Happily beside you in purgatory One game Two hearts Are we old enough to know what we want I would want your body Not your spirit Roll the dice And remain pessimistic Ohh miles of separation What happens after emancipation A love story Or are we just horny? Will we wake in each others hearts Or be like the sun each day and fade out?
5.
I need to hear I need to see I need to sculpt My senses are me If I could not hear If I could not see My heart still beats For no one but me This band is what we need To hear our dead souls sing My heart still beats For no one but me Have you heard? Have you heard your song? It plays for only Yet everyone sings along I bought these words Free from government Charged from my heart It was charged from My fucking heart

about

No One But Me is the third EP released by No Plateau. The lyrics and progressions were written by drummer Christian Staton, and feature John Staton on guitar and Sean Murphy on bass. While this ep differs stylistically from the previous 2, the musicianship and style of No Plateau remains at the heart of the recordings.

"These 5 songs are very personal to me. I wrote them out of necessity, while battling depression, depleted serotonin levels, and hopelessness. I met an older man while substitute teaching years ago who told me: when it's all on the line, your heart beats for no one but you. You have your loved ones and friends for support but, when it's sink or swim, your heart only beats for you. I took that to heart and understood what I needed to do to get through this difficult time. I learned that my heart was beating for No One But Me."
